LIDAR, RADAR, and electromagnetic modeling are widely used in various areas of automotive design. And like everything else, electromagnetic modeling comes with its own set of challenges, such as accurately modeling complex geometries and materials, handling high-frequency electromagnetic fields, and accounting for the effects of electromagnetic interference and compatibility on the performance of electronic systems in the vehicle.
COMSOL Multiphysics® allows engineers to create detailed models of various electromagnetic devices or applications, taking into account their mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties. The software uses a finite element analysis approach, breaks the devise design down into smaller components, and resolves the governing equations for each component separately.
During this webinar, we will focus on how COMSOL Multiphysics® software can help automotive engineers to model and simulate car antennas and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).
Accurate antenna and MEMS device analysis are critical for predicting the performance of sensors, communication systems, laser components, and much more. It supports engineers in developing and implementing new features, as well as discovering optimal configurations to increase bandwidth or spatial resolution. Modeling and simulation can be used early in the design process to minimize testing costs and understand device behavior.
You will learn:
- What COMSOL Multiphysics software capabilities and add-on modules are well suited for electromagnetics and high-frequency electromagnetics modeling,
- What can be modeled with the RF Module, including different antenna models,
- How MEMS Module add-on can make the simulation of MEMS devices easier.
We will take a deeper dive into how to:
- Choose the proper physics features, material properties, and correct boundary conditions for the model, and also cover solving and postprocessing,
- Characterize the antenna system and evaluate its EMI/EMC,
- Examine the test antenna in the simulation and enhance its performance.
